Water Pump Station Projects

Pump stations deliver water to higher elevations in the city. EWEB continually repairs and replaces pump stations to keep them in good repair.

City View 1150 Pump Station Replacement

Project Description

EWEB is installing a new water pump station and replacing pipelines on W. 29th Avenue in southwest Eugene. The project will increase the reliability of water service in the area for both domestic uses and fire flow.

Background

The City View 1150 pressure zone is currently served by two pump stations that have reached the end of their useful lives. EWEB is replacing the two stations with one larger station equipped with backup power to better serve EWEB customers. The project will also include pipeline upgrades.

Project Impacts

Neighbors can expect noise, dust, lane closures and traffic impacts during pipeline installation. Driveways may be blocked for short periods of time; the contractor will provide advanced notice of any blockages to impacted property owners. Pump station work will create localized noise, dust, vibration and traffic impacts from the delivery of materials. Approximately three trees will be removed from the work site to accommodate the new station. Construction activity will be intermittent depending on material lead times and delivery.

Station Features and Aesthetics

The new station will be housed in an above-ground, split face concrete masonry building to blend into the natural surroundings. A generator will be concealed behind the station to provide backup power for redundancy and resiliency.

Project Duration

The contractor received notice to proceed in early August. Work is expected to happen at the site in the following phases:

  • Site excavation: Late August 2026 – Fall 2026
  • Pipeline installation: Fall 2026 – Winter 2027
  • Pump station construction: Fall 2026 – Summer 2027

Work Hours

Construction will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Activity will typically conclude by 5 p.m., barring special circumstances. Construction activity will be intermittent, not continuous, over the duration of the project.

Completed Projects

Highland Drive Water Main and Pump Station

EWEB constructed a new water pump station and pipeline on Highland Drive near the west side of Hendrick's Park.

Here are some basic facts about the project:

  • The area around Hendrick’s Park was previously served from a pump station that ran 24 hours a day to provide water for fire suppression and domestic uses. The pump station was undersized for new development in the area. EWEB leveraged developer funds to construct new seismically hardened water infrastructure to benefit the entire area.
  • The new pump station is housed in a 20’x20’ concrete masonry building sited within Hendrick’s Park.
  • A new 12-inch pipeline was constructed in Highland Dr. from the existing storage tank to the intersection of Woodland Dr.
  • A new 8-inch pipeline and fire hydrant were installed on Woodland Drive.
  • A standby generator was installed to allow the pump station to supply water during power outages.
