Protecting our Drinking Water Source

The McKenzie River is the sole source of drinking water for 200,000 people in the Eugene area. EWEB's Drinking Water Source Protection (DWSP) team keeps our water clean at the source through multiple programs, including:

  • monitoring and protecting water quality,
  • implementing proactive strategies that reduce water treatment costs,
  • and promoting public awareness and stewardship through targeted actions and programs.

Together with local partner NGOs and agencies, through bringing in state and federal funding, supporting academic and institutional researchers, and activating our community and upriver neighbors, EWEB has built a prestigious national reputation for our work preserving our drinking water quality and protecting our environment.

EWEB is aware of allegations of financial wrongdoings by a staff member of the McKenzie Watershed Alliance. These allegations do not implicate EWEB employees. EWEB supports the investigation proceeding and will continue to provide updates as details and facts emerge.
